Oh, if this were true. I've been through the archived images and used two search engines. I can't even come up with half of Mr. Sachs' number. Maybe that was "ATMO". The total I have is 47 covers. Here are the leading cover illustrators:
Jean Jacques Sempé is in his 90s and has produced 10 total from '83 thru '18.
Arthur Getz did 4 from '73 thru '85.
Saul Steinberg did 4 from '66 thru '95
Charles E. Martin has 3 covers from '69 thru '86.
Three of Sempé didn't exist when this was published. I tabulated this count in October of 2019.
